A peaceful landscape, a sail gliding on the water, a few birds in the sky, and the delicate silhouette of a tree leaning over the bank. This 1960s trivet draws on Far Eastern imagery to transform an everyday object into a true little artwork. Made around an enameled earthenware plaque, its monochrome decor in old rose tones stands out against an ivory background traversed by a fine network of crazing. The scene is surrounded by a delicate rope-style border that highlights the composition and gives it the appearance of an old engraving. The wide, dark wooden frame gives it all its personality. Carved with incised patterns and designed with a slightly undulating line, it fully belongs to that 1960s decor which loved to blend warm wood, ceramic, and evocations from elsewhere. Four small wooden feet raise the earthenware and remind us that this lovely piece was primarily intended to take pride of place at the center of a table.
