About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is a vintage floor light by the Dutch manufacturer Dijkstra, a characteristic design from the Space Age era. The piece embodies the futuristic aesthetic of the 1970s with its double, adjustable 'mushroom' spots.
The lamp is made with a chromed metal stand and a heavy, dark brown lacquered metal base that provides stability. The two spherical shades, in a glossy beige color, can be adjusted in height and tilted to direct the light precisely. The inside of the shades is painted white for optimal light reflection. The lamp is equipped with the original wiring and a double floor switch, allowing the light sources to be operated individually.
In good vintage condition, the lamp shows character and a patina consistent with its age. The overall structure is solid and the adjustable mechanisms are fully functional, testifying to the durable quality of Dijkstra lighting.
This floor light is a functional and sculptural element, ideal as a reading lamp next to an armchair or to atmospherically illuminate a corner in a living room. The design fits seamlessly into a Mid-Century Modern, Space Age, or eclectic interior.
