Product description
This pair of vintage side chairs were manufactured by ETMA in Italy during the 1960s. The design features a highly functional silhouette, incorporating a distinctive folding writing tablet that makes them particularly suited for educational or conference settings.
The chairs are constructed with a moulded plastic seat shell in a dark grey tone, supported by a tubular metal frame with a chrome finish. The integrated writing tablet is crafted from plywood with a warm brown veneer, attached via a robust cast aluminium hinge mechanism clearly stamped with the ETMA maker's mark. The tablet can be put up and turn down on the side. The combination of materials reflects the utilitarian yet considered approach of mid-century Italian industrial design.
A splendid design which looks good both at the office and at home.
The chairs remain in good vintage condition, retaining their original structural integrity and functional folding mechanisms. The materials display a natural patina consistent with age and previous use, preserving the authentic character of the 1960s production.
