This vintage Brazilian decorative wall plate exemplifies mid-century South American folk art, combining reverse painted glass with iridescent butterfly wing accents. The piece is highly desirable for its vibrant depiction of two macaws perched on a branch, a canonical motif that captures the rich biodiversity and cultural heritage of Brazil. Constructed with a meticulous layered technique, the 25-centimetre diameter plate features a central glass panel set against a stark black background to enhance the vivid multi-coloured plumage of the birds. The composition is framed by a textured border of crushed natural stone and a delicate gold-tone metal chain inlay. Supported by a sturdy MDF backing equipped with a metal hanging loop, this piece reflects the traditional craftsmanship prevalent in mid-20th-century Latin American decorative arts. The plate remains in good vintage condition, retaining its original structural integrity and vibrant colour palette. The reverse painted details and natural stone border are well-preserved, while the piece exhibits a natural patina consistent with its age and history. The original hanging mechanism remains fully functional. This distinctive wall decoration serves as a compelling focal point in eclectic or bohemian interiors. It pairs exceptionally well with organic textures, botanical elements, and other vintage collectibles, bringing a touch of tropical warmth and historical character to a curated living space or gallery wall.
