Private sellerProduct description
This vintage ceramic bowl is a fine example from the "Timor" series produced by Villeroy & Boch. The piece stands out for its Japanese-inspired design, a testament to the Japonisme taste that influenced European decorative arts between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Made of high-quality ceramic, the bowl rests on a pedestal base that slims its form. The decoration is applied with a complex technique combining transfer printing with hand-painted details, creating narrative scenes and floral motifs. The color palette is rich and varied, with shades of orange, blue, pink, and black standing out against a cream-colored background. The manufacturer's mark "V & B TIMOR" is visible on the bottom, confirming its authenticity and provenance. The item is in good condition, consistent with its age. The surface features a dense and uniform network of craquelure, which does not compromise its structural integrity but rather enhances its antique charm and historical patina. This characteristic is a hallmark of vintage ceramic glazes. Thanks to its decorative elegance, this bowl is a versatile piece. It can serve as a centerpiece, a catch-all, or simply as a collector's item, capable of enriching a classic, eclectic, or bohemian environment with a touch of historical sophistication.
