About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
This is a vintage ceramic sculpture of a greyhound, manufactured in the renowned Italian ceramics region of Bassano. The piece captures the elegant and streamlined form of the animal in a resting pose, a characteristic motif for decorative sculptures from that period. The sculpture is made of glazed ceramic with a glossy finish. The main color is a soft cream hue, accented with hand-painted black details on the nose, eyes, and paws that enhance its realism. Such animal sculptures were a popular element in mid-20th century interiors and attest to the craftsmanship of Italian potters. The overall condition is good and consistent with the object's age. The sculpture has an authentic character, and its original luster has largely remained intact, contributing to its vintage appeal. The piece is hollow inside, as is common for ceramic sculptures of this size. This greyhound is a striking decorative object that fits well in a hallway, next to a sofa, or by a fireplace. It adds a touch of classic, eclectic, or Hollywood Regency style to an interior.
