Product description
🎋✨ Vintage bamboo campaign table - foldable, boat-shaped top - 60s-70s An atmospheric and functional piece with a rich history in design: this foldable bamboo table belongs to the "campaign furniture" category — furniture originally designed to be light, compact, and easy to fold, intended for travelers, colonialists, and military personnel who had to carry their furniture with them. Bamboo tables in this style, with a characteristic curved ("boat-shaped") top, are a recognizable type within this tradition and were primarily manufactured in Japan and China for the Western export market. 🔍 DETERMINATION • Style: Campaign/Colonial — functional, foldable travel furniture with East Asian weaving technique • Period: presumably 1960s-1970s • Origin: presumably East Asia (Japan or China) • Material: solid bamboo Please note: this is an estimate based on comparable pieces and style characteristics, not a formal appraisal or brand confirmation. 🪵 PARTS and CONSTRUCTION The tabletop has an elegant, inwardly curved ("boat-shaped") form and is finished with a fine weave of bamboo strips. This weave is finished with a glass-hard, extremely sturdy surface — presumably a resinous coating (such as epoxy or polyester) instead of a regular lacquer layer, a technique often applied to this type of Oriental bamboo weaving to make the top waterproof, scratch-resistant, and particularly durable. The edge is framed with sturdy bamboo rods. The base consists of crossed, hinged bamboo legs (X-construction), allowing the table to be folded completely flat. 📏 DIMENSIONS Unfolded: Height 74 cm / Width 67-51 cm / Length 126 cm Folded: Height 11 cm / Width 67-51 cm / Length 146 cm 📋 CONDITION • Mechanical: sturdy, complete, and stable. Rating 9/10 • Optical/visual: the top shows a slight sagging, but is otherwise as sturdy as new. Additionally, minimal signs of use. Rating 8/10 🚚 DELIVERY • Pick-up possible in Nijmegen (Netherlands) • Shipping via Whoppah courier service possible — the costs for this can be calculated in advance at checkout
