About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
A Bakelite tray from the 1970s, an example of mid-century design, is presented. This piece is distinguished by its translucent finish that emulates the tortoiseshell pattern, a highly appreciated characteristic in the decorative accessories of its time.
Made of Bakelite, an early plastic known for its durability and heat resistance, this large format tray measures 58 cm wide by 45 cm deep. Its coloration combines shades of brown and amber in the classic tortoiseshell pattern, and its silhouette is defined by a scalloped edge that adds a touch of formal elegance. The piece is a testament to the aesthetics of the 70s.
The overall condition is very good, reflecting careful use over the decades. The surface maintains its original shine and structural integrity is intact, preserving the authentic character of a vintage object.
Thanks to its considerable size and distinctive design, this tray is a versatile object. It can function as a centerpiece on a coffee table, an elegant serving accessory for gatherings, or a decorative element on a console or sideboard, complementing vintage, retro, or eclectic style interiors.
