About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is a vintage combination of a standing ashtray and a magazine rack, made of metal. The piece is a characteristic example of functional design from the mid-20th century, elegantly combining two everyday functions in a space-saving way. The construction consists of a chrome-plated metal frame resting on a heavy, black lacquered cast iron base for stability. The frame includes a V-shaped holder for newspapers or magazines and is topped by a conical, black metal ashtray with a removable, chrome-plated top. The design is both minimalist and practical, typical of the design aesthetic of the 1950s and 1960s. The object is in good vintage condition and retains its structural integrity. The patina developed over the years contributes to the authentic character of the item, testifying to its history and former life. This ashtray and magazine rack is a stylish addition next to an armchair in a reading nook or as a unique decorative element in a living room with a Mid-Century Modern, retro, or eclectic interior. It is an object that is both a conversation piece and a practical piece of furniture.
