About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
Unique vintage apothecary sign featuring a stylized mortar and pestle above striking “CHEMIST” lettering. The sign hangs in an elegant wrought iron frame with hand-forged curved hanging hooks, creating an authentic and classic shop appearance.
The sign itself appears to be made of early polyester or composite material and still displays remnants of original gold leaf decoration. The combination of weathered gilding, dark background, and warm patina gives the object a beautifully aged look.
Likely dating from the mid-20th century, but designed in a much older traditional apothecary style. Thanks to the wrought iron frame and the remaining gilded details, this object has a strong decorative appeal for interiors, shops, cafes, bars, or collectors of advertising and medical antiques.
The sign shows signs of use, surface aging, and wear to the paint and gilding consistent with age and use, which enhances its authentic vintage character. Features:
