Product description
This elegant vintage tea set by Raul da Bernarda, produced in the 1970s in Alcobaça, is a refined example of Portuguese ceramic artistry. Comprising nine pieces—six tea cups, a teapot, a sugar bowl, and a milk jug—the set reflects a harmonious blend of European design influences. Its aesthetic is reminiscent of the Pontesa Castle Collection, while also echoing the clean lines and organic motifs of Scandinavian mid-century design. Each piece is adorned with a delicate, hand-painted floral pattern, lending softness and sophistication to the set. The mark “RB – Alcobaça – Portugal - 70” stamped on the base authenticates its origin and era, making it highly desirable among collectors of vintage Portuguese ceramics. Ceramic production holds deep cultural and economic importance in Portugal, particularly in Alcobaça, a region renowned for its rich clay resources and centuries-old craftsmanship. Factories like Raul da Bernarda helped establish Alcobaça as a key hub for innovative ceramic design during the 20th century, blending traditional techniques with modern aesthetics. Today, pieces from this region remain prized for their quality, artistry, and historical significance in the global ceramics market. With no chips or cracks.
