Product description
A striking example of post-war Mid-Century Modern design. This authentic 1950s wingback armchair features an exceptional silhouette with elegantly sloped wings, a subtly tufted backrest with two original covered buttons, and beautiful outward-flaring armrests.
It sits perfectly on iconic wooden compass legs, which are completed with premium brass ferrules at the feet—a classic detail showcasing the high-quality craftsmanship of Northern European production from this era.
The heavy, textured woven fabric features a beautifully aligned geometric checkerboard and stylized floral motif, entirely consistent with factory-original vintage upholstery from the decade.
Condition:
Very good vintage condition. The structural frame is sturdy and highly comfortable. The internal suspension remains excellent. The original 70-year-old fabric has been remarkably well-preserved with fantastic color retention. There is only minimal, localized vintage wear to the right-hand armrest upholstery (as shown in the detailed photos), which remains fully intact and adds to its authentic mid-century character.
Perfect as a standalone statement lounge chair or reading nook centerpiece for a vintage, eclectic, or modern interior.
