Product description
This ceramic catchall is a work by the French artist Gabrielle Mackiewicz, dating from the 1950s. The piece is distinguished by its free triangular and elongated shape, characteristic of the post-war revival of French ceramics, particularly from the Vallauris school where Mackiewicz trained.
Made of ceramic, this dish features a warm terracotta-colored base, highlighted by a very shiny enamel. The hand-painted interior decoration displays a stylized plant motif, probably inspired by monstera leaves, in shades of green, white, and black. This piece, made in France, is an example of the organic and modern style that prevailed in the mid-20th century.
The piece is in exceptional condition, with no visible defects, retaining all the vibrancy of its colors and the luster of its original varnish. The underside of the object bears the artist's signature, attesting to its authenticity and provenance.
With its sculptural design and expressive color palette, this catchall is a decorative object in its own right. It will find its place on an entrance console, a sideboard, or a coffee table, bringing a touch of Mid-Century elegance to an interior.
