Victorian Sterling ladies Vanity set in anthracite faux croc box
This exquisite silver dressing table set includes a brush, clothing brush, hand mirror, and comb, all presented in a stylish anthracite faux-crocodile box lined with soft cotton for protection. Each piece is finely engraved with initials, adding a personalized touch and historic charm. Crafted in the late 19th century, the set exemplifies Victorian elegance and attention to detail.
Faux crocodile (or “anthracite” / embossed leather”) boxes were widely used to house dressing sets, jewelry, writing instruments, and other personal accessories. These boxes were made by embossing leather or papier-mâché to imitate exotic crocodile or alligator skin, offering the appearance of luxury without the high cost of genuine exotic leather.
