Victor Ramirez is from Chile. In 1975 he moved to Barcelona, where he has lived and worked ever since.
In the meantime he has also worked in countries such as Germany, Mexico and Belgium. SINCE 2003 he also has a studio in Antwerp.
Victor's work is clearly influenced by his native Chile, by his country of adoption (Belgium) and also by aspects of the European artistic tradition. These elements can be identified formally, technically and with regard to the content.
One can easily enjoy Ramirez's artwork because of his expressive style that masterfully controls the colors and light. For Ramirez, these two essential elements are independent and symbolize both the spiritual affective content of Goethe and the dramatic existential part of Van Gogh.
His turbulent life has a major influence on his works of art, which make a clear point through the expressive use of color and the often large dimensions.
Ramirez's art therefore has many faces, from more graphic artwork to pictorial, abstract paintings and public installations.
