Product description
A signed Venini “Tolboi” floor lamp in lattimo and cobalt blue, dated 1993, in perfect condition.
The Tolboi entered the Venini catalogue in 1987 and quickly became one of the house’s signature lighting pieces: tall, slender and architectural, built entirely around what Murano glass does best. Every glass element is mouth-blown and hand-finished at the Venini furnace in Murano.
The glass. The diffuser is a deep bowl in lattimo (milk-white opaline glass), finished with a fine applied cobalt blue rim, a hand-applied thread that frames the silhouette from every angle. The stem is made of solid glass sections in clear crystal with a cobalt blue core, joined by brass collars and resting on a square brass base. It’s a construction that requires real control at the furnace: the coloured core has to stay centred and consistent through the full length of each section.
The light. This is an uplighter. The lattimo bowl sends a soft, diffused light toward the ceiling, washing the room without any glare, while the bowl itself glows evenly. When lit, light also travels through the stem, so the cobalt core comes alive and reads almost as a vertical line of colour. Switched off, it’s a sculptural object; switched on, it becomes atmospheric. It’s dimmable, so you can take it from a full ambient light down to a low, warm evening glow.
Condition. Perfect. No chips, cracks or repairs to the glass; brass in excellent condition; electrics fully working, dimmer included. Signed “Venini” and dated ‘93 on the glass.
A piece that works equally well in a contemporary interior or alongside mid-century and Italian design, and an authentic signed example of a model still identified with Venini today.
