Exceptional antique Art Nouveau glass vase by Legras, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The vase features a highly sculptural and unusual silhouette, with a broad circular base rising into a remarkably long, slender and gently curved neck, completed by an expressive asymmetrical ruffled rim reminiscent of a flowering calla lily. Crafted in clear mould-blown glass, it is decorated with delicate raised gilded motifs of stylised flowers, foliage and scrolling botanical ornaments in Rococo style. The combination of its organic form and refined gold decoration is characteristic of the elegant naturalistic vocabulary of the Art Nouveau period. In good antique condition with visible traces of age and use, including wear and partial losses to the gilded decoration, internal cloudiness. These signs of time are consistent with the vase’s considerable age and contribute to its authentic antique character. A rare and highly decorative example of French Art Nouveau glassmaking.
