Antique naturalist's vasculum Émile Deyrolle – Paris, circa 1900
Remarkable antique scientific collection box bearing the oval plaque of the famous Parisian house Émile Deyrolle, 46 rue du Bac, Paris, specializing in natural history equipment.
Probably dating from the late 19th or early 20th century (circa 1890–1910), this vasculum features a particularly interesting construction with two independent openings:
* A large longitudinal compartment intended for collecting botanical specimens.
* A lateral compartment with independent opening, lined with old cork held by original metal pins, allowing entomological specimens to be fixed.
The piece retains its antique fittings, its manufacturer's plaque, and numerous traces of its history.
Condition and Patina
Beautiful age-related patina, with traces of oxidation, signs of use, and small old deformations.
The box appears to have been originally painted green. Traces of this finish are still visible. The metal was probably stripped and then protected with a transparent varnish during its history.
Both openings and closing systems work perfectly. The interior cork is firmly attached.
The shoulder strap is not included.
Dimensions: 36 × 13 × 8 cm.
An authentic piece of antique French scientific equipment, ideal for a cabinet of curiosities decoration, an industrial interior, or a collection dedicated to natural history.
Any insects visible in the photographs are for presentation purposes only and are not included in the sale.
