About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
A vintage ceramic coffee and mocha crockery, manufactured in the renowned pottery town of Vallauris in France. This ensemble is a striking example of artistic pottery from the mid-20th century, characterized by its organic, sculptural forms and a striking two-tone glaze.
The set is complete and consists of a coffee pot, a sugar bowl with lid, a milk jug, and six cups and saucers. Each piece is made of ceramic with an expressive drip glaze technique, combining deep black and vibrant turquoise hues. This technique, often associated with the 'Fat Lava' style, ensures that no two pieces are exactly identical, contributing to the unique character of the set.
The crockery is in good vintage condition, with a patina consistent with its age and careful use over the years. The glaze's luster has been well preserved, and the set retains its full functional and aesthetic integrity. The handmade nature of the objects is clearly visible in the slight variations in shape and finish.
This coffee crockery is not only functional but also serves as a powerful decorative statement. It fits perfectly into an interior with Mid-Century Modern, Brutalist, or eclectic influences, for example, on a sideboard, in a display cabinet, or as a central element on a dining table.
