A true garden scene captured in ceramics. This beautiful decorative plate from Vallauris displays a particularly vibrant design. In the center, a bird with blue, soft green, yellow, and mauve plumage glides among large daisies, generous foliage, and small deep red fruits. The design truly comes alive thanks to the polychrome glazes, shiny and slightly raised, which contrast with the speckled beige background with a more matte appearance. The dark brown outlines, drawn with great freedom, give the piece that graphic and instantly recognizable character of 20th-century French decorative ceramics. The composition is at once naive, joyful, and very decorative. The colors are bold without being garish, and the wonderfully stylized bird brings that touch of whimsy that makes the piece so charming. The handwritten "Vallauris" inscription, integrated into the design in the lower part, confirms its origin. The terracotta reverse is largely exposed and retains its old hanging system, allowing the piece to be naturally displayed on a wall. With its approximately 25 cm in diameter, it has enough presence to be displayed alone, but will also perfectly find its place in a wall composition of antique ceramics. A piece chosen less for setting a table than for adorning a wall and bringing to an interior that sunny, artisanal, and Mediterranean touch characteristic of Vallauris.
