About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This ceramic dish is a characteristic piece of the production from Vallauris, a renowned pottery center in the south of France. Its organic oval shape and integrated handles bear witness to the free and expressive style that defined French ceramics of the mid-20th century.
Made of ceramic, this dish stands out for its complex reactive glaze, creating a unique surface texture reminiscent of molten lava. The color palette combines earthy brown, creamy white, and black tones, creating visual depth and striking contrast. The handwritten signature "Vallauris" on the base authenticates its origin.
The piece is in excellent overall condition, preserving the integrity of its shape and the richness of its glaze. Variations in texture and color are inherent to the artisanal firing process and contribute to the unique character of the object, which shows no notable damage.
With its sculptural aesthetic, this dish can serve as a centerpiece on a wooden sideboard or console, or be displayed as a standalone art object. It fits perfectly into Mid-Century Modern, rustic, or eclectic interiors, adding a touch of authenticity and history of French craftsmanship.
