Joost Swarte has designed many stained glass windows, but always for the public domain. Think of the Palace of Justice in Arnhem, or houses on Marnixstraat.
There are only a small number of Swarte stained glass windows. Only a few, and these have an edition of 10 copies for €2,000. The artwork offered for sale, however, is a unique piece that Swarte created through his collaboration with Glasbewerkingsbedrijf Brabant (GBB). The studio produces stained glass or glass-in-concrete windows, stained glass, and glass appliqués, among other things, and collaborates with artists such as Hugo Brouwer, Piet Clijsen, Jan Dijker, Jacques Frenken, Marius de Leeuw, Theo Mols, Marc Mulders, Toon Ninaber van Eyben, Michel van Overbeeke, Jan Schoenaker, Lambert Simon, René Smeets, Albert Troost, Joost Swarte, Toon Verhoef, and Jan Willemen. GBB handles the execution, or the artist temporarily uses their studio there.
This collaboration resulted in this unique work, which GBB has displayed in their studio since 2005. Wikipedia provides information about Glasbewerkingbedrijf Brabant and Joost Swarte.
MBT dimensions. The frame slides into a specially designed rack, reaching a height of 223 cm. The artwork can be easily slid out of the rack for individual, protected transport. There are also eyelets at the top of the piece for hanging.
