Helmut Kohl was a CDU politician and served as Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany from 1982 to 1998. Known as the "Chancellor of German Unity," he played a key role in the reunification of Germany in 1990.
The sculpture originates from Bonn, the former seat of government of the Federal Republic of Germany, and is thus closely linked historically to Kohl's political work.
