Unique candlestick from the prestigious Bezalel School (Jerusalem), crafted during the school's heyday under the direction of founder Boris Schatz (1905-1920). This exceptional piece is made entirely of bronze, using various alloys. After careful cleaning, the beautiful color nuances, from deep chocolate brown to golden bronze tones, are revealed. This variation in metal composition was a deliberate artistic choice in the Bezalel workshops to give the object depth and character. The decoration is characteristic of early Zionist Art Nouveau. Note the rare, original double hallmark on the underside (highly enlarged in photos 12 and 3). The candlestick is in excellent antique condition, dry-brushed with a soft brush to optimally display the patina and metal nuances, which are over 100 years old.
