Title of the bowl "leaves" and was made by Anna Verrijt on behalf of Unique. Anna Verrijt (1951) grows up in a village in Brabant, which soon becomes too small for her. Girls become housewives, at most a teacher or nurse. She likes to draw and a lot, but the world of art is on another planet. Becoming an artist is therefore impossible. Verrijt's sympathy for everyone who falls outside the norm makes her choose psychiatric nursing. Later she travels around the world, to Nepal and India, where she lives for a long time. There she also meets her – Dutch – husband. Once back in the Netherlands, she goes back to work in psychiatry and has two daughters. RETURN The desire for art can no longer be put to sleep, however. She takes the plunge and starts taking lessons at the Witte Lelie in Amsterdam. There it turns out that she already knows far too well where she wants to go; the teachers tell her that she had better get started right away. Verrijt therefore quits the training and resolutely starts her career as an artist. Everything shows that she has found her way. She works hard and with pleasure, and success is not long in coming. This still surprises her sometimes, because she sets high standards for her work. She does not get stuck in a formula or mannerism, but is constantly evolving. If you put her paintings next to each other chronologically, you can see the barriers she has overcome.
