Private sellerProduct description
This is a set of an Ultima 15 ashtray and, an iconic Swedish design by Ljungberg & Backstrom. The duo is characterized by its brutalist and geometric aesthetic, a hallmark of mid-20th century Scandinavian design.
Crafted from cast aluminum with a brushed finish, the set consists of a larger square ashtray and a smaller version. The larger ashtray has a removable grate for easy cleaning. The large ashtray is marked on the bottom with the designer's name, the manufacturer Pascha AB from Lund, Sweden, and the model name. The small ashtray lacks this marking, but a sticker on the bottom indicates that the small ashtray was sold as a branded item at a jeweler. (you have to try very hard to still read the text on the sticker)
The overall condition of the set is good, with a patina consistent with age and use. The structural integrity of both ashtrays is fully intact and they retain their original finish. The heavy, solid feel of the aluminum underscores the quality of the production.
These ashtrays are not only functional objects but also sculptural decorative pieces. They fit seamlessly into a Mid-Century Modern, industrial, or minimalist interior, and can serve as a striking detail on a coffee table, desk, or dresser.
