Private sellerProduct description
This lot features two units of the "Reading Light" Reading Lamp, a creation of the Anglo-Swiss design studio Black+Blum. Founded by Dan Black and Martin Blum, the studio is known for its ingenious designs that bring a touch of humor to everyday objects. These lamps are an emblematic example of their philosophy, transforming a functional light source into a captivating anthropomorphic figure.
Each lamp is constructed with a bent metal wire frame that forms the body of a seated person, with the light bulb as the head. The figure holds a lacquered metal "book" that functions as a shade, directing the light downwards. This set includes two lamps, one with a yellow shade and the other in blue, both with the characteristic silver frame. The design is a clear exponent of the postmodern style, which values ingenuity and referentiality.
Both pieces are in excellent condition, showing only minimal signs of use that do not compromise their aesthetics or functionality. The metal structures are firm and the colors of the shades remain vibrant. The design not only illuminates but also tells a story, evoking the quiet joy of reading.
These lamps are ideal as accent lights on a bedside table, a desk, or a bookshelf in a study. Their playful character and intelligent design make them a conversational focal point, perfect for contemporary, eclectic, or minimalist interiors where design with personality is appreciated.
