Private sellerProduct description
Two beautiful ceramic wall plates by Carstens Tönnieshof, from the company's coveted "Luxus" series. These relief tiles were produced in the 60s and 70s and are a prime example of West German Pottery (WGP) and Mid-Century Modern art. Key features of this set Origin: Made by Carstens Tönnieshof in West Germany. The designs from this series are often attributed to chief designer Dieter Peter. Style and Technique: They feature a typical Fat Lava aesthetic: a rough, dark, volcanic background combined with thick, glossy and brightly colored glazes (here in vibrant blue, yellow and orange). The colorful areas often have a craquelé (cracked) glass effect. Hanging system: Both tiles are equipped with the original, robust metal chains that run through pre-drilled holes in the corners, typical for this series of wall paintings. Dimensions: approximately 37.5 x 24 cm
