Product description
This is a set of two oak Armchairs from the Dutch furniture factory L.O.V. Oosterbeek, dating from the 1920s. The design is a beautiful example of the sleek, functional aesthetic of Dutch Art Deco, a style known for its honest materials and clear lines.
The chairs are made of solid oak that has been dark stained, allowing the wood grain to remain visible. Characteristic of this model, which is also included in the original L.O.V. catalog, are the sloping back panel, the flat armrests, and the robust, square legs. The seats have recently been re-upholstered with a soft, cream-colored wool fabric that has a linen-like texture. The frame connections have been expertly restored.
A special detail is the presence of both a Genie stamp and an approval stamp from the Rijksinkoopbureau, indicating a past as government furniture and adding a piece of unique Dutch history. These Armchairs combine historical character with renewed comfort and fit well in both classic and modern interiors, for example as accent chairs in a living room or study.
