Product description
Maple wood, light and silky, is turned into a bulbous and generous shape. Five perfectly calibrated ebony discs punctuate the body and lid with an understated graphic pattern. The lid finial, turned from the same ebony, elegantly completes the piece. The contrast of the two woods, one warm and golden, the other dense and black, is striking. Under the lid, a handwritten signature in green ink. At the bottom of the body, a BRAIE blind stamp within a circle. This is, therefore, a signed piece from a French artisanal woodturning workshop dating from the 1960s-1980s. Approximately 16 cm in diameter, 12 cm in height including the lid. The interior, hand-hollowed, reveals the natural wood grain and a few tool marks that attest to the manual craftsmanship. On a shelf, a desk, or a console table, this box catches the eye with the purity of its lines and the quality of its execution. A piece for lovers of turned wood, French craftsmanship, and objects that bear a signature.
