In 1963, the Danish furniture factory Haslev Møbelsnedkeri introduced a series of tables designed and made by ceramist and visual artist Tue Poulsen.
Poulsen, born in 1939, already stood out at that time for his distinctive style, the use of warm colors in his ceramics, and his craftsmanship. Combined with the quality the manufacturer normally strives for in its furniture, the result of this successful collaboration was an exceptionally beautiful series of tables.
It is noteworthy that Poulsen had only recently graduated from vocational school and started his own studio in 1963, the year this table saw the light of day.
Made of solid wood and inlaid with a large mosaic full of unique shapes and beautiful colors, the whole piece even resembles a true work of art.
The tables found their way throughout Europe and were sold in stores featuring a collection that was very modern for its time, predominantly Scandinavian-oriented. Those who dared to choose these unique tables from 1963 onwards belonged to the "Moderns" and were ahead of the curve when it came to style and the latest trends.
In recent years, there has been growing interest in tables featuring natural stone or ceramic mosaics. Works by the Dutch artist "Paul Kingma" as well as the Dane "Tue Poulsen" are now highly sought after internationally.
This particular piece is in exceptionally beautiful condition and comes from the first owners, who purchased this table new.
The tabletop and the base can be transported separately, allowing this table to be placed in smaller homes or upstairs apartments.
