Trudie Snijders (Bergen op Zoom)
After having created ceramic work for over 20 years, Trudie Sneijders began the General Drawing course at the St. Lucas Academy in Kapellen (Belgium) in 2008. She completed this in 2013 and subsequently chose to pursue the Multi-Disciplinary Studio course for another five years. She completed this course last year in June 2018. The fact that her education was very broad is evident in her work.
Trudie starts from experimentation. In her work, she uses diverse techniques and materials and combines them. The process is certainly an important part of her work. "I draw my inspiration from people's stories, photos, but even the smallest piece of paper or scrap of fabric can inspire me in my work. I find it particularly interesting to use materials that others throw away. I am always on the move and never finished learning, constantly discovering that there is always a new beginning."
In this, Trudie tries to give herself the space to explore and to dare to play. "It is allowed to be different! It is not about being good or beautiful, but about arriving at the pure form. I have learned that perfectionism can be a hindering factor when creating beautiful things. By accepting that beauty does not have to be perfect, I arrive at the pure form."
Trudie’s work is on display and for sale at gallery “Square One” in Bergen op Zoom.
