This square trivet with rounded corners features a bamboo-style border, framing a centre decorated in blue and white with a typical Japonese-inspired design from the late 19th century: flowering branches, a perched bird, a garland of floral motifs, and a stylised cartouche evoking an Asian utensil or object. This aesthetic aligns with the "Japan"/chinoiserie trend that was very popular at Creil and Montereau in the 1870s-1890s. Dimensions approximately 25*25 cm. Height 2.5 cm.
