Product description
This ceramic catchall is a work by the French ceramist Gabrielle Mackiewicz, dating from the Mid-Century period. The piece is distinguished by its free triangular shape and its characteristic decorative technique, inherited from her apprenticeship with Roger Capron in Vallauris.
Made in France around the 1950s, this catchall features fine engraving work and patterns carved into the enamel. The stylized white plant decor stands out against a terracotta background, framed by a deep blue mesh pattern. This color palette and technique are emblematic of the know-how of the Vallauris school of that era.
The piece is in good overall condition, retaining the shine of its original enamel. It bears the artist's signature on the underside, confirming its authenticity and provenance. It is a collectible piece representative of French ceramic design from the mid-20th century.
This sculptural catchall can serve as a decorative element on a console, a coffee table, or a sideboard. It integrates particularly well into Mid-Century Modern style interiors, adding a touch of art and history.
