This refined ceramic object is a design by Paul Dressler for Töpferei Grootenburg, manufactured in Krefeld, Germany, during the 1940s. The piece is distinguished by its organic form and the striking, layered glazing technique characteristic of the oeuvre of this progressive ceramist.
The bowl is expertly hand-thrown from high-quality ceramic and features two subtle handles on the top. The surface displays a rich, multi-colored glaze in which deep brown tones seamlessly transition into subtle green accents. This complex finish gives the object an almost metallic appearance, testifying to the maker's mastery. The authentic signature of the studio is located on the underside, confirming its provenance and dating.
The object is in excellent condition befitting its age and careful preservation. Over the decades, the glaze has developed a beautiful, natural patina without compromising the structural integrity of the design. The original finish and characteristic color palette have remained completely intact.
This historic piece forms an understated yet striking accent within various interior styles, from classic to modern. It lends itself perfectly as a decorative centerpiece on a sideboard or as part of a curated collection of studio ceramics.
This is a vintage item. This means it has been used. Items are not new or perfect, but they are very beautiful! Most vintage items show signs of use.
