Product description
This is a Tibetan mala (prayer necklace).
Each bead is carved into a skull.
In Buddhism, the skull is often recognized as a symbol of impermanence. It is a powerful reminder to be here now and live in the present moment; for nothing is permanent, everything is possible.
Bone beads allow us to reflect on the Buddhist teachings of impermanence. They serve as a reminder to live in the present moment; for nothing is permanent, everything is possible.
This antique-style 108-bead mala is made with naturally dyed yak bone beads and is approximately 25 years old.
Beads are approximately 14mm.
Length is 86cm.
The object is in good overall condition and shows character consistent with its handmade nature and light use. The finish of the beads and the integrity of the cord are well preserved, contributing to its authentic appearance.
As a Decorative Object, this cord can be styled in various ways. It can be draped over a stack of books, placed in a display cabinet, or serve as a unique accent in an eclectic or 'cabinet of curiosities' interior.
