The Thomas Eyck Urchin pouf in orange is an iconic Dutch Design object, designed by Christien Meindertsma for the Thomas Eyck publishing house (t.eyck). The design is inspired by the organic shape of a sea urchin (“Urchin”). The pouf is constructed entirely from extremely thick, coarsely knitted yarn of 100% organic merino wool. This manual and artisanal production process gives the object a powerful texture and a recognizable, three-dimensional character. This specific example of the Thomas Eyck Urchin pouf in orange is finished in a striking orange color. The interior is firmly padded and retains its shape perfectly, allowing the object to function as a comfortable extra seat, footstool, or simply as a textile sculpture in the interior. Because merino wool is naturally dirt-repellent and resilient, the pouf retains its high-quality appearance even with daily use.
