About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This object is a thick-walled glass vase from the 'Serica' series, an iconic design by the Dutch designer Floris Meydam. The piece is a representative example of post-war Dutch glass design, characterized by the experimental approach to material and form for which Meydam was known.
The vase is made of clear, thick-walled glass and has a height of approximately 20 centimeters and a diameter of about 11 centimeters. Its distinctive aesthetic is created by enclosed blue color powders and a carefully controlled pattern of air bubbles, a technique that lends depth and a lively texture to the glass. This specific model, produced for Glasfabriek Leerdam, demonstrates the mastery of the glassblowers and the clear artistic vision of the designer.
The object is in excellent condition, retaining its original clarity and finish. The complex structure of the enclosed bubbles is completely intact and provides a unique refraction of light. The heavy, solid base gives the vase a substantial and qualitative presence.
As a sculptural object, this vase functions both independently and in a composition with other art objects. The design fits seamlessly into an interior with a preference for Mid-Century Modern, Dutch Design, or a minimalist style, where it adds a subtle but distinctive accent.
