Product description
This is quite a special sofa.
The internal structure of a four-seater that died far too young became the donor for this little fatso. The foam was still in exceptionally good condition and sat surprisingly comfortably, even though it lay haphazardly piled up beneath me. In fact, that largely determined the shape.
Part of the wooden internal structure was custom-made again. The Nosag springs were practically new and effortlessly supported this new, soft composition. It no longer needed legs; the double layer of foam gave it the right height all by itself.
I sculpted the final shape with an upholstery knife and then sanded it smooth by hand.
And there she stood; an obese two-seater that had devoured enough foam to provide an average four-seater with excellent comfort.
To me, she is an ode to high-quality furniture foam and a subtle jab at our consumer society. Why use new raw materials when the best material is sometimes already right in front of us?
A little self-satisfied, she absorbs the space. This is a piece of furniture that stands its ground, despite – or perhaps precisely because of – the absence of legs.
It is therefore looking for an equally distinctive interior, where it can continue to do its job as a second-love cuddly toy for a very long time.
