Product description
The Rising Black Star
This gladiolus once grew in my own garden. From the grass, it rose further and further upwards, flower after flower, until its dark, deep colors unfolded like a silent crown.
For me, this flower became a symbol of strength, growth, and victory. Not a victory over another, but of repeatedly finding the strength to continue. To keep your head up. To keep growing, even when life is not easy by itself.
The Rising Black Star is about the moment when you no longer look down, but straighten up again and find your own way upwards.
The lines are hand-burned into the wood and then filled layer by layer with watercolor paint and pencil. This keeps the natural grain of the wood palpable and gives the flower a lively, authentic appearance.
The artwork contains a protective coating layer and a white lacquered wooden frame.
Both the title and the signature are burned into the back.
Anneke Winterman uses nature, fragments from the landscape, and the rhythm of life as an endless source of inspiration. In 2005, she completed Autonomous Fine Art at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht. Several of her artworks have been included in various publications.
