Coat rack Ikea Plagg designed by Tord Björklund, 1989. H 120 cm x W 51 cm Perfect condition still! Made of metal coated in three different primary colours: yellow, blue and red with plastic/rubber finish on the ends of the tubes. The composition is simple but ingenious: 6 tubes of different heights with the beginning and end of the elbow are screwed together to form a symmetrically packed grain bundle. The Plagg is a continuation of the design of the Rigg model that Mr. Björklund designed in 1987, an all-black adult height model pendant. The Plagg is 121 centimeters / 47.64 inches long and is a perfect height for kids and teens. The primary color scheme was something IKEA used in many of its late 1980s/early 1990s designs. This is often labeled as Memphis design and the great colors and quirks of some of the designs from that period certainly capture the spirit of captured the Memphis movement, although technically it is clearly modern Scandinavian design. This coat rack is not marked anywhere, but it is a well-documented IKEA design classic. About Tord Björklund Swede Tord Björklund (1939 - 2018) studied Interior Design in Copenhagen, Denmark, and started working for IKEA in 1980, where he would stay for more than ten years. It is not known what he did before his time at IKEA. At IKEA he designed a wide range of products, including several chairs and lamps. He has been awarded the Excellent Swedish Design Award twice.
