The Kiss (II) After Brâncuși is a contemporary reinterpretation of The Kiss by Constantin Brâncuși, revisited through the language of contemporary sculpture and digital fabrication. Rather than replicating the original, the work enters into a dialogue with Brâncuși’s essential geometry, translating it into a new material and temporal context.
The sculptural form combines mixed media and digitally constructed elements, with a deliberately tactile surface that preserves traces of the making process. Subtle irregularities and layered textures become part of the work itself, suggesting a form suspended between memory, reconstruction, and transformation.
The sculpture is presented on a pedestal made from reclaimed exotic wood, salvaged from an old Amsterdam building. The contrast between the digitally constructed form and the recovered architectural material introduces a second narrative—one of reuse, material memory, and transformation.
The Kiss (II) After Brâncuși becomes a meeting point between past and present, tradition and technology, permanence and reinterpretation.
