Thai Bronze Luang Phor Buddha on richly decorated base

This monumentally constructed Thai bronze Buddha bears the reverent title หลวงพ่อ, Luang Phor, on its front. The right hand descends over the knee in the earth-touching gesture; the left hand rests open in the lap. The monastic robe drapes over the left shoulder, and the small hair curls culminate in a flaming finial.
**Richly Elaborated Base**
The stepped bronze base is decorated all around with floral and leaf relief, profiled edges, and a central hanging ornamental band. The dark recesses and golden-brown highlights give the sculpture a strong three-dimensional presence.
**Surface**
The surface shows signs of age in the form of small pits, scratches, dark recesses, and green patina. Light residues are visible on the hair and on parts of the base. The underside shows brown filling material within the metal rim.
