About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This Tecta F40 sofa (also known as the F40 Breuer sofa) is an iconic, minimalist cantilever sofa (freischwinger). The model was designed in 1931 by Marcel Breuer and later re-released by the German Bauhaus specialist Tecta.
• Design concept: The sofa embodies the Bauhaus principle of radical reduction. It features an elegant, springy base that visually contrasts with the thick, comfortable cushions that appear to "float" within it.
• Materials: The frame is made of chromed tubular steel. The upholstered seat and backrest are covered with high-quality leather.
• Inspiration: At the time, Breuer was inspired in Dessau by the construction of his bicycle handlebars. This led him to the revolutionary idea of using steel tubes for furniture.
• Dimensions: The standard dimensions are approximately 175 cm wide, 75 cm deep, and 80 cm high (with a seat height of approx. 42 cm).
