Product description
This work is an oil painting on canvas by the German artist Hans Franz Edmund Killian. The work, dated 1907, is an architectural representation of St. James's Church (Jakobskirche) in Aachen, Germany, capturing a street scene from the early 20th century.
The composition is executed with a realistic technique, highlighting the play of light and shadow on the stone and brick facades. The color palette is dominated by earthy tones of brown and gray for the architecture, contrasting with the deep blue of the sky. The work measures 40 cm in height by 27 cm in width and is signed and dated by the artist in the lower right corner.
In good general condition considering its age, the painting has retained the richness of its original colors. The canvas is stretched on its original wooden stretcher, showing a patina that testifies to its more than a century-old history. Killian's works are known to have been featured in auctions.
This historic urban landscape painting would fit perfectly into a classic or eclectic interior. It can be displayed alone as a centerpiece or integrated into a gallery wall to add a touch of history and European sophistication.
