This set, consisting of a dining table, two matching benches, and a coffee table, was designed by Fernando Laposse. The combination of organic forms and the striking surface finish makes this ensemble an outstanding example of contemporary design.
Crafted from wood, the set impresses with its light, natural beige color. The table features an oval top with a geometric pattern and is made of Totomoxtle.
Totomoxtle is an innovative material that harnesses the fascinating color spectrum of the husks of traditional corn varieties. From deep purple to delicate cream tones, Totomoxtle showcases the natural color diversity of native Mexican corn varieties. Each husk is carefully removed from the cob, flattened, and glued to a cellulose or textile backing. The material can then be cut—either by hand or laser—into small pieces that are reassembled to create inlays for furniture or interior surfaces.
This set was created for the "Vignettes" exhibition at the new AM TACHELES urban quarter in Berlin-Mitte. The exhibition, held in 2025, showcased radical interior design. Three international design studios (Fernando Laposse, Lotto Studio, and studioutte) designed striking, sculptural room corners that combine modern architecture with conceptual art.
The dining table, two benches, and a coffee table are available for purchase.
Benches measure 142 x 54 x 41 cm. Coffee table measures 180 x 99 x 35 cm.
