Product description
An iconic timeless classic of Italian design, a vintage table lamp "Eclisse", designed by renowned Italian architect and designer Vico Magistretti for Artemide in 1965. This iconic lamp features a simple yet ingenious spherical shape. The white lacquered metal body houses a rotating inner shade that allows the user to adjust the lighting, transitioning from total diffusion to partially or fully directed light. This innovative mechanism transforms the lamp from a simple functional lighting object to a sculptural piece with a playful, almost astronomical character. The name "Eclisse", meaning "eclipse" in Italian, refers to how the rotating inner shade can gradually obscure the light source, creating different levels of light and shadow. A prime example of "Mid-Century Modern" Italian design, the Eclisse combines functionality, technical ingenuity, and elegant simplicity. With its compact dimensions, it is particularly versatile: it can serve as a bedside lamp, desk lamp, or decorative element on a console or shelf. Designed in 1965, the Eclisse has become one of Artemide's most iconic creations and remains remarkably contemporary more than half a century later. A superb collector's piece from the Italian modernist luminaire, ideal for design collectors or interiors in search of an iconic piece. It is 19cm (7.48 in) high and 12 cm (4.72 in) in diameter and in very good condition. Additional Information. The lamp is currently fitted with a European (EU) plug, suitable for Sweden and many other EU countries. US or UK plugs can be fitted free of charge upon request. Please contact us prior to purchase if you would like the plug adapted to your region. Additional details: - Period: 1960s
