This special trunk chair was crafted in the 1960s by a skilled woodworker in central Sweden. The chair is carved and hollowed from a single solid pine trunk, using a traditional technique rooted in Scandinavian folk culture. Known in Scandinavia as a 'kubbstol' or trunk chair, it was traditionally made from locally available wood. The chair serves not only as a seat but also as practical storage, with the trunk hollowed out beneath the seat, which can be lifted for access. Despite its robust and sculptural form, the chair is surprisingly comfortable. The organic lines and visible wood grain highlight the handmade process, giving each piece a unique character. The chair comes with an original leather cushion, featuring a beautiful patina developed over time. This kubbstol is both a functional piece of furniture and a sculptural object: a powerful example of Scandinavian craftsmanship, where simplicity, functionality, and respect for the material come together.
