Product description
Some ceramics catch the eye with their colors, and others with the atmosphere they exude. This vase belongs to the latter category. Its spherical, generous, and well-balanced silhouette is adorned with a mottled celadon green glaze, animated by a design of large stylized leaves traced in reddish-brown engobe, highlighted with golden touches. The rim of the neck, in metallic coppery-brown glaze, contrasts with the softness of the body. Firing variations, the deep reflections of the glaze, and subtle material nuances make each side unique, as if light brings the piece to life. Approximately 14 cm in height, with a neck diameter of about 10 cm. Entirely hand-thrown and hand-decorated, it is part of the great tradition of French stoneware workshops from the 1970s-1980s, where each creation possessed its own unique personality. A ceramist's signature is engraved under the base, testifying to careful workshop production. It can accommodate a bouquet of dried flowers as well as a single branch, but also stands alone as a decorative object. Placed on a shelf, desk, or windowsill, it catches the light and changes in appearance depending on the time of day.
