Product description
Cake of Peace is a cake stand with a cloche, designed by Studio Job (Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel) for Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum. The object is part of the Biscuit series from 2006.
For this series, Studio Job utilized the capabilities of a historic Tichelaar press, which allowed for the creation of very deep reliefs in porcelain. The unglazed white porcelain gives the exuberant imagery an almost classic appearance. The cloche of Cake of Peace is fully adorned with reliefs and is crowned by a hand making the V or peace sign.
The Biscuit series consists of nine plates and five larger objects. Works from the series are included in various international museum collections, including Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, the Groninger Museum, the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
